The Best Tech Gifts of 2026, by Budget: 10 Picks From $75 to $789
Ten holiday tech gifts from Gavler's community-ranked lists, sorted by budget from a $75 controller to a $789 Steam Deck, with the price to watch on each.
Published October 27, 2026. Black Friday is November 27, and Christmas falls on a Friday this year.
The best tech gift is one the recipient already wanted but wouldn't buy for themselves. Here are ten picks from Gavler's community-ranked lists, sorted by budget. Each one ranks in the top three of its list, and each comes with the price to watch between now and Black Friday. If you buy only one: the Nintendo Switch 2 for a family, the DualSense for a PS5 owner, or the Viofo A229 Pro for someone with a long commute.
Under $100
Sony DualSense — $74.99

Sony DualSense
The PS5's standard pad, with adaptive triggers and haptic feedback that games genuinely use.
Amazon affiliate · price subject to change
Every PS5 household is one controller short. The DualSense is #1 on our Best Gaming Controllers list because its adaptive triggers and haptics change how supported games feel, and it works on PC over USB-C or Bluetooth too. One caveat: battery life is about eight hours, so add a charging dock if you have room in the budget. Skip the $199 DualSense Edge unless they've asked for it by name.
NOCO Boost Plus GB40 — $99.95

NOCO Boost Plus GB40
NOCO Boost Plus GB40 — 1000A peak, 6.0L gas / 3.0L diesel, UltraSafe, IP65, 2.4 lb, up to 20 jumps. Amazon /dp/B015TKUPIC.
Amazon affiliate · price subject to change
Nobody asks for a jump starter, and everybody is grateful for one in January. The GB40 handles gas engines up to 6.0 liters, its clamps won't spark if they're hooked up wrong, and it weighs 2.4 pounds, so it fits in a glovebox. Buy the bigger GB70 for a V8 truck or a diesel. Compare both on Best Jump Starters.
$100 to $300
Kindle Paperwhite — about $150 to $200

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2025)
A 7-inch, 300 ppi E Ink display with adjustable warm light, IPX8 waterproofing, and up to 12 weeks of battery life. The 2025 refresh is faster, sharper, and lighter than its predecessor, making it the easiest entry into e-reading.
Amazon affiliate · price subject to change
The Paperwhite is #1 on Best E-Readers: 7-inch 300 ppi screen, IPX8 waterproofing and weeks of battery life. Amazon's October refresh lists the new model at $199.99. The previous Paperwhite dropped to $149.99 at Amazon during October's Prime Big Deal Days, per Technobezz. For a gift, last year's model at $150 is the smarter buy. Our 2026 Kindle lineup breakdown explains what the new one adds.
Razer BlackShark V3 Pro — $249.99 list

Razer BlackShark V3 Pro
~10ms wireless latency, THX spatial audio, and a great detachable super-wideband mic.
Amazon affiliate · price subject to change
The #3 pick on Best Gaming Headsets is the one we'd actually buy. It has around 10ms wireless latency, active noise cancellation, and Bluetooth that runs at the same time as the 2.4GHz dongle, so they can take a call mid-match. The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless at #1 is better, but it costs about $130 more for gains most gamers won't notice.
$300 to $500
Viofo A229 Pro — $349.99

Viofo A229 Pro
Three-channel 4K HDR dashcam with Sony STARVIS 2 sensors, 5GHz Wi-Fi, GPS, and 24hr parking mode.
Amazon affiliate · price subject to change
A dashcam is the gift people never buy themselves and then use every day. The A229 Pro is #1 on Best Dashcams because its Sony STARVIS 2 front sensor reads license plates at night and in rain, which is the only reason to own one. Viofo sells the two-camera version for $349.99. The trade-off is installation: plan an afternoon, or budget for a hardwire install.
GoPro HERO13 Black — $399.99 list

GoPro HERO13 Black
5.3K at 60fps with HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilization, modular lens system, and best-in-class ecosystem. Still the camera that defines the category.
Amazon affiliate · price subject to change
The #1 on Best Action Cameras records 5.3K at 60fps, survives water down to 10 meters, and has the biggest accessory ecosystem of any action camera. That matters for gifting, because mounts are easy stocking stuffers. It has sold well below list during past sale events, so don't pay $399.99 in November.
Bambu Lab P1S — $399

Bambu Lab P1S
Speed and reliability make it the bestseller for a reason — the printer most hobbyists should actually buy.
Amazon affiliate · price subject to change
The P1S is the 3D printer we recommend most often: it's enclosed, fast, and goes from box to first print in about 15 minutes. It's the right gift for a tinkerer with a project in mind, and the wrong one for someone who just thinks 3D printing sounds cool. Bambu's Black Friday preview, running from October 27, cuts the P1S with the AMS 2 Pro multi-color unit to $509 from $579, according to BambuHub's price log. That's the version to give. See how it ranks against the P2S on Best 3D Printers.
Nintendo Switch 2 — $499.99

Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo's hybrid console-handheld sequel with a 7.9-inch 1080p/120Hz screen and a major power jump.
Nintendo · price subject to change · Also on Amazon
This is the family gift of the year. The Switch 2 plays handheld, on a tabletop or on the TV with the included dock, and it's the only way to play Nintendo's games. Nintendo raised the US price by $50 to $499.99 on September 1, so last year's $449 deals are gone. Bundles are where any value is left. It ranks #3 on Best Gaming Handhelds, behind two PC handhelds that cost far more.
The splurge
Baratza Vario W+ — $599.95

Baratza Vario W+
Flat burr grinder with integrated scale for espresso to French press precision.
Amazon affiliate · price subject to change
For the coffee person who already has the machine, the grinder is the upgrade they'll feel every morning. The Vario W+ is #1 on Best Coffee Grinders because it doses by weight to a tenth of a gram and handles everything from espresso to French press, so one grinder replaces two. It's plain plastic, not boutique metal. If the espresso machine is the gift instead, our espresso Black Friday guide has the price to beat.
Steam Deck OLED — $789

Steam Deck OLED
Valve's handheld PC with a gorgeous 7.4-inch HDR OLED screen and the polished SteamOS experience.
Steam · price subject to change · Also on Amazon
The Steam Deck still has the best screen and the best software of any handheld. But Valve raised the 512GB model from $549 to $789 in May, so it's now a gift for someone with a big Steam library, not a default pick. For anyone else, the Switch 2 is $289 cheaper and more fun on a couch.
What to skip
- A first drone or 3D printer nobody asked for. Both reward people who already have a plan and frustrate people who don't.
- "Pro" controllers as a first controller. The DualSense Edge costs nearly three times the standard pad, and most players never use the back paddles.
- Paying list price in November. Most of this list gets cheaper on Black Friday. Our Black Friday guide shows how to spot a fake deal. For non-tech gifts, see our luggage, running shoe and kitchen Black Friday guides.

Common Questions
Sony's DualSense controller at $74.99 for anyone with a PS5, because nobody ever has enough controllers for couch co-op. For a driver, the NOCO Boost Plus GB40 jump starter at $99.95 is the practical pick: 1000A, spark-proof clamps and 2.4 pounds, so it lives in a glovebox.
The Switch 2 for most people. It costs $499.99 after Nintendo's September 1 price increase, plays on the TV out of the box, and is the only way to play Mario and Zelda. The Steam Deck OLED is $789 for the 512GB model after Valve's May 2026 price rise. It's the better gift only for someone who already owns a large Steam library on PC.
For most of this list, yes. Black Friday is November 27, 2026, and it lands early enough for Christmas shipping. Bambu Lab is already previewing its Black Friday prices: the P1S with the AMS 2 Pro is $509, down from $579, from October 27. Kindles and GoPros tend to hit their best prices around the big sale events. Console prices rarely move, so buy a Switch 2 when you find it in stock.
Christmas 2026 falls on a Friday, and Hanukkah begins at sundown on December 4. Order by Cyber Monday, November 30, if you want Black Friday pricing and no shipping stress. Bulky items like 3D printers ship in large boxes, so order those first.
Gavler doesn't rank those categories right now, so we don't recommend picks in them. Every gift here comes from a live, community-ranked Gavler list you can open and compare.
